To Our Valued Customers and Industry Professionals:
Subject: Dayton Superior Product Pricing
The global steel and petroleum cost inflation continues with little relief in sight. This week Dow Chemical
raised prices again and the latest contracts for iron ore supply were signed at an 85% increase. As
promised in our May 27 communication, this memo will update you regarding the Dayton Superior
planned pricing increases.
As previously announced, our pricing on all metal products was raised 15%, effective June 1, 2008. With
this memo we are confirming a 10% increase in our metal products list pricing, effective August 1, 2008.
For planning purposes, please expect another increase on or around October 1, 2008, also in the 10% to
15% range.
Cost pressure on petroleum and resin based products also continues as evidenced by the Dow Chemical
announcement earlier this week. Our plastic and petroleum based resin products pricing was raised July
1, 2008, and we expect another increase on September 1, 2008. We will communicate with you on this
during the last week of July.
As a reminder, due to rising transportation costs, we raised the minimum order size to qualify for prepaid
freight to $15,000. This is an interim step towards the elimination of freight-allowed orders. In the future,
please expect the minimum order size to rise in accordance with our pricing increases.
We will continue to communicate with you monthly, at the beginning of each month, on our pricing. We
will continue this practice until the environment becomes more predictable. Also, we would like to remind
you that, due to the continued steel price volatility, our quotation protection period is 10 days.
We will accept orders in July for July/August delivery. We will accept orders in August for
August/September delivery. We will not accept fixed price orders with extended delivery terms, nor will
we work our factories overtime to fulfill stock orders.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this unprecedented period.
Thank you for your business and we will communicate with you again on or about July 30, 2008.
Sincerely,
Eric R. Zimmerman
President and Chief Executive Officer
